Continue to the Citadel of Saladin, one of Cairo’s most iconic landmarks. Built by Sultan Saladin in the 12th century to defend the city from invading armies, the citadel stands on a hill overlooking Cairo, offering spectacular panoramic views. Inside the fortress, you will visit the magnificent Mosque of Muhammad Ali, famous for its impressive domes, soaring minarets, and beautiful Ottoman architecture. For centuries, the Citadel served as Egypt’s political and military center and today remains one of the country’s most important historical sites.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Coptic Cairo, one of the oldest parts of the city and a center of Egypt’s Christian heritage.
Visit the Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergius Church), built above the cave where the Holy Family is believed to have taken refuge during their stay in Egypt. Continue to the Hanging Church, one of the most famous Coptic churches, built above the ancient Roman Fortress of Babylon.
