The Temple of Edfu is one of the best-preserved temples in ancient Egypt and is dedicated to the god Horus. Built during the Ptolemaic period, it represents a magnificent example of ancient Egyptian religious architecture. The temple is famous for its impressive entrance pylon, open courtyard, and walls covered with hieroglyphic inscriptions depicting the myth of Horus’s victory over Seth. Thanks to its excellent state of preservation, it offers visitors a remarkable insight into the grandeur of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Next, continue to the Temple of Kom Ombo, located on the banks of the Nile in Upper Egypt. It is one of the most unique temples of the Ptolemaic period, featuring a distinctive double design dedicated to two deities: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. The temple features two entrances, two hypostyle halls, and two symmetrical sanctuaries. Its walls are beautifully decorated with reliefs depicting religious scenes and ancient medical instruments, providing fascinating evidence of the scientific knowledge of the ancient Egyptians.
