Tour Itinerary

Day Tour in Aswan: Philae Temple, High Dam & Unfinished Obelisk

Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan to begin your day tour exploring the ancient and modern engineering marvels of the city:

  • Philae Temple:

Dedicated to the goddess Isis, the Temple of Philae is one of Upper Egypt’s most enchanting sites. Originally located on Philae Island, the entire complex was carefully relocated to Agilkia Island to rescue it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. The temple is world-renowned for its finely decorated colonnades, pristine wall reliefs, and magical island setting.

  • The Unfinished Obelisk:

Visit the ancient granite quarries of Aswan to see the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest known ancient obelisk ever attempted. Ordered by Queen Hatshepsut, it offers a fascinating look into ancient Egyptian stone-carving techniques, revealing how giant monuments were carved directly out of solid bedrock before a flaw caused it to be abandoned.

  • Aswan High Dam:

Discover one of modern Egypt’s most vital engineering achievements. Built to control the annual flooding of the Nile and supply hydroelectric power, the High Dam transformed the region’s agriculture and created Lake Nasser—one of the world’s largest man-made reservoirs. The dam stands as a grand symbol of modern Egyptian development and technology.

A delicious lunch will be served at a local restaurant during the tour. At the end of the trip, our tour guide will escort you back to your hotel in Aswan.
